Lowe's Inc. 2011 CPE Series - September 13th

Tax Update (2 CPE Hours)

Each year, there are numerous changes that occur in the corporate and individual tax laws.  This session would provide an overview of the updated rules and upcoming changes that could impact Lowe's and its employees.  The timing of this session is designed to provide participants time to incorporate their learning into their  2011 personal tax planning as well as in how they execute their job responsibilities at Lowe's with regard to items that could have an income tax impact on the company.

Technical Update (2 CPE Hours)

There will be two sessions during the year to keep participants informed about the most recent developments on the activities of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and joint projects with International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), as well as the latest breaking news from the SEC.  With the recent statement of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) supporting a single set of global accounting standards, the intensity has been dialed up a notch on new standards.  These sessions are designed to keep you informed about important projects and upcoming changes, including lease accounting, fair value accounting, liabilities and equity project, financial statement presentation, commitments and contingencies and other relevant developments.  As content will relate to the most current developments and "hot topics", the specific technical matters covered will be determined approximately one month in advance of the session dates.

Leadership (4 CPE Hours)

An increasingly fast-paced and diverse workplace puts the burden on individuals to keep up with their surrounding environment and build skills to deal with those changes.  These courses, presented by Andra Ward, are designed to ensure that employees are able to achieve a high level of engagement and interaction among professionals and foster healthy and productive collaborations.  It also contributes to the development of or maintenance of technical and/or nontechnical professional skills in the area of personal development.
