CPE SESSION: SOCIAL MEDIA  Duration: 2 hours 30 min

Social media is changing the way we communicate, share ideas and interact both inside and outside our companies. Its effects are reaching across the entire spectrum of business activity, from product development to marketing and sales to customer support. Companies engaging in social media need to identify and address the risks of social media. During this module we will cover topics:

  • How employees, vendors and customers use social media?
  • Social media supporting business goals
  • Risks of social media and how to address the risks
  • How can social media impact other areas of risk?
  • Measuring and analyzing our social media presence 

CPE SESSION: Data Analytics Enhances Decision Making  Duration: 50 min

As companies collect and retain increasing volumes of data across the organization, more and more departments are realizing the potential value stored here.  Benefits are increasingly being realized outside of traditional data-focused areas such as CRM and marketing, but it is often difficult for organizations to know where to start.  During this module, we will cover various analytics techniques and how to apply them to effectively realize value in the decision making processes across the organization.  This module will cover the following topics:

  • Data analytics maturity model
  • Embedding analytics into the business to increase efficiency
  • Identifying and focusing on key data and drivers
  • Leveraging predictive analytics to uncover hidden insights.

CPE SESSION: Value Beyond Compliance Duration: 1 hour and 40 min

Protecting and enabling performance is critical to the business environment today.  A company’s risk profile plays a major role in decision making.  Organizations take a holistic view to better understand  interdependencies and aggregate impact.  Risk tolerance and building a
risk management culture is more important today than ever.  During this section, we will explore the role of Compliance functions to drive value to the organization.  This module will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the key elements of risk management
  • What does a holistic risk function look like?
  • What roles does risk management have in driving value?

CPE SESSION: Ethics Duration: 2 hour and 30 min

This session will support the Ethics requirement needed for the annual CPA license requirement.  We will utilize a presenter from the North Carolina Association of CPAs to  deliver this session.
