CPE SESSION: How Consumer Conversation Will Transform Business /Understanding the Digital Consumer    Duration: 2 HRS

How consumer conversation will transform business examines how new technologies and new methodologies are transforming a new source of consumer data--the customer's thoughts, intentions and innovative ideas obtained from conversations found in blogs, message boards, phone calls and other interactive media--into a dramatically deeper understanding of consumers.
PwC believes this granular, real-time view of unfiltered behaviors and attitudes has the potential to disrupt consumer-oriented businesses across numerous industries, including telecommunications, entertainment and media, retail, and consumer packaged goods. This course also discusses specific strategies on how companies can achieve incremental improvements in business processes, technology, and organizational culture.

CPE SESSION: Impact of Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility Concerns Duration: 2 HRS

Concerns over global warming and the environment have led consumers to become more conscientious of the environmental characteristics of the products they purchase. As a result, they are increasingly searching out manufacturers and product offerings that are more environmentally friendly. Companies throughout the distribution channel are responding with initiatives on sourcing for ingredients, more efficient packaging, recycling, use of by-products, and emphasis on renewable product features. Some sustainability initiatives also may provide cost saving opportunities for companies: as package weight is reduced by decreasing plastic,
pulp, or other content, the package may be more environmentally friendly and may save shipping weight, in turn reducing transportation costs.  Despite today's economic challenges, corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives are a differentiator and opportunity in the marketplace. PwC recently released the Carbon Disclosure Project which includes reporting on S&P 500 companies and their commitments to carbon reporting and carbon reduction plans. The results of this project will be discussed in this session along with specific references to certain tactics being undertaken to continue to reduce energy costs, secure energy supply and protect their business from climate change risk and damaged reputation and maintain carbon management as a strategic priority. It is no longer an option, but an imperative, to drive growth and to manage costs directly to create long-term value through assessing and managing social, ethical and environmental risks and opportunities. Additionally, the U.S. Congress has introduced more than 200 propositions related to climate change and carbon cap-and-trade plans since 2007 which means that the likelihood of a regulated cap-and-trade reporting system in the US is very real.

CPE SESSION: Communicating Effectively: The Basis for High Performance Duration: 4 HRS

Is it more important to say it the right way or be right no matter how it's said? Understand how message content and context are both essential for effective communication. Each person has a preferred thinking and communication style which impact their overall leadership role team's high performance outcomes.

RSVP will be closed on Tuesday, July 23rd End of Day.
