Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP)

Summer Residency Camp

Sunday, June 18th to Friday, June 23rd 

On the campus of UNC Charlotte.

We are accepting applications through Saturday, May 20, 2017

What is ACAP?

ACAP is a trademark program owned by the National Association of Black Accountants Inc. and is held in 18 major cities across the country. The primary objective of ACAP is to increase understanding of accounting and business career opportunity among high school students from underrepresented ethnic groups.  This is a 5 day summer residency camp where students reside overnight (under direct supervision).

Who Can Apply to ACAP?

This program is for high school students entering their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year the Fall of 2017

Camp Program

The camp program will give participants the following:

  • Introduction into college life
  • Overview of career paths for accounting and finance
  • Review of business majors including accounting and finance
  • Personal Development - Personality/Career Assessment
  • Group Case Study - with Final Presentation
  • Onsite Tour with a Local Well-known Corporation 
  • College Application Preparation Session
  • Interview and Resume Session
  • Guide to Networking and Social Media/Email Etiquette
  • Games, Team Building and Social Activities

INSTRUCTIONS: In order to apply, applicants should press the orange "Apply" button.  Then sign-up as a "New User" for a "This Way to CPA" account.  In the drop-down menu for "I am a:" select "Undergraduate Student".  Input your anticipated graduation date from high school.  On the next page, you will be invited to join the AICPA as a Student Affiliate member.  Do not join...select the "No, thanks.  Skip this." link about one quarter of the way down the page.  You will then have access to the application and may proceed with providing the requested information.   

 

Each applicant must attend an interview conducted by NABA professional members. 

Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2017, time to be determined.
