COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS
Corporate Partnership Committee
Recruits and coordinates corporate and small business support
for the chapter's services and scholarship program. Seeks local
corporate partnerships and participation at regional and national
events.
Membership Committee
The membership committee actively recruits new members, retains
and reclaims former members, and encourages member participation
in chapter, regional, and national NABA activities and events.
Two of our most challenging fiscal year goals are to increase
the membership base by approximately 50% and implement long-term
proactive membership activities that will attract and retain members
from major corporations, accounting firms, recent graduates, and
college/university faculty.
The responsibilities of the membership committee are to obtain
completed membership applications, collect annual membership dues,
prepare and maintain a local chapter database, and continuously
recruit new members into the organization. The committee also coordinates
various member activities such as the annual membership drive and
quarterly networking socials.
Student Affairs Committee
Acts as liaison between professional and student chapters. Coordinates
CAMA activities with the local student chapters under the Chapter's
supervision: Johnson C. Smith University, Winthrop University ,
and University of North Carolina at Charlotte . Encourages and
assists students entering the accounting and business professions.
Recruits students to join the professional chapter upon graduation.
Coordinates the annual scholarship selection process.
Fundraising and Community Affairs Committee
This committee is responsible for organizing events to raise
funds for chapter activities and the scholarship program, and acts
as a liaison between the Chapter and various community-based groups.
Coordinates various events such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Program, voter registration drives, and other community volunteer
efforts. Provides members with an opportunity to give back to the
community. Some of the chapter’s annual fundraising events
include City Fest Live and our membership drive raffle.
High School Programs Initiative
During the Spring of 2005, the chapter launched a High School Program to develop relationships with area high schools and provide seminars to promote financial literacy among high school students. Other goals of the program are to help students gain knowledge in business etiquette, personal skills development, leadership, team building, and more. Currently, the program includes Garinger High School and the chapter is seeking volunteers to assist in launching programs at other area high schools. |
