Roger Williams

Senior Business & Technology Consultant

Roger A. Williams is a Senior Business & Technology Consultant with Duke Energy headquartered in Charlotte, NC.

He joined the Charlotte Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. in 1984 and began his journey as a leader, mentor and motivator of students within the Southern Region. He has held numerous leadership and committee positions within the Charlotte Chapter since joining.

Roger has always focused on assisting NABA professional and student members in their search for employment and networking opportunities. Over the years he has worked closely with Duke Energy Human Resource Department and Corporate Finance Department where he actively assisted in recruiting professional and entry level candidates in the field of accounting, auditing, and finance. He has been a major catalyst soliciting Duke Energy to become one of the many corporate recruiters/sponsors supporting the NABA National Convention, Southern Region Student Conference and the Charlotte Chapter. With his assistance Duke Energy has become a key contributor for the Charlotte Chapter Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP).

Roger continuously demonstrates his commitment to an organization by participating as an involved leader. He not only accepts positions of notable rank but uses his work-related skills in technology to develop useful products. One such innovation is NABA’s first automated application for registration and interview scheduling that he developed and introduced at the 1993 Southern Region Student Conference. While serving as the NABA Southern Region Vice President, he initiated the development of the Southern Region website and served as the project manager. The Southern Region leadership team is very proud of the highly successful on-line registration, interview scheduling, electronic resume book delivery system, and conference on-line payment application championed by Roger.  Sharing the application with other regions, the Central Region of NABA chose to take advantage of the elite and innovative application to manage their student conference registration process. He began serving as the Technical Lead for the National Student Conference Standardization Committee June 2007 – December 2007 to develop a fully integrated application that will be deployed to all regions to manage the student conference activities on-line.

Roger not only exemplifies model citizenship but is a loving father and husband, family confidant, friend, Christmas tree business owner since 1985, and employee of Duke Energy since 1978.

He continues to focus on giving back to the community, mentoring students and grooming young professionals. He attributes his involvement and accomplishment from the lessons gained in his youth, from his parents and immediate family members working as educators, politicians, entrepreneurs, and community leaders in his home town of Seneca, SC.
